Description: Locations for all populated places in West Virginia.Places were downloaded from the U.S. Census Bureau's TIGER/Line Shapefiles. The WV GIS Technical Center converted the places from polygon to point data and added population and demographic attributes from the U.S. Census Bureau.Total population is stored in the Population field. Earlier versions stored it in a field named for the Census vintage (pop20). The field was renamed so that this layer always carries the newest Census data under the same field name.
